The Grand Adventure of Grandma and Granddaughter

Mont Saint-Michel
Mont Saint-Michel is truly a breathtaking sight, rising majestically from the sea. Originally built as an abbey, it is home to a community of 20 monks and nuns. Before the bridge was built in 2014, this stunning tidal island could only be reached during low tide, making it a challenging journey for many pilgrims. Today, as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the grandeur continues to captivate visitors, reminding us that pictures alone cannot capture its incredible scale and beauty.
This was Megan's favorite stop on the trip!

We arrived at four to tidal waves of day-tripping tourists leaving the island. We couldn't begin to count how many stairs were in the mount. We checked into our hotel after an epic amount of stairs and then went back down for a toast with the tour and dinner. I tried mussels, periwinkles, little grays, and sea snails. Grandma was thrilled with her salad and fish. It was a once-in-a-lifetime joy to stay overnight on the mount.

Experience the hidden gems of your destination with a guided tour! Our knowledgeable guide revealed that the abbey's sunrise service is open to everyone, offering a unique opportunity to connect with the spiritual atmosphere. Megan woke up early to attend the vespers at the cathedral atop the mount, and the sight of the fog rolling out as Gregorian chants filled the air was truly unforgettable. Don't miss out on these special moments you might not discover alone!
